Make a Color Tap Me image

Upload one image, generate the 4×4 sampling pattern, and download a lossless PNG for testing on X.

The feed view is an approximation. X may change thumbnail sampling across clients or over time.

Your source image stays in this browser tab.

Why the image changes

The output controls which pixels a small thumbnail is likely to sample while preserving color when the complete image is shown.

Fixed white samples

Ten positions in every complete 4×4 block are white. They guide the simulated feed toward a light image.

Six color positions

The remaining positions encode red, green and blue as binary values. At normal viewing size they blend into the source colors.

Post the exact file

Attach the downloaded PNG directly on x.com. Screenshots and image editors can destroy the pattern.

Color Tap Me FAQ

Test every export on the X clients that matter to you before publishing it broadly.

Is the feed simulation exact?

No. It visualizes the intended sampling behavior, but X controls its own thumbnail pipeline and can change it.

Which setting should I use?

Start with Smooth, Gamma 0 and a 2432 px long edge. Fixed is useful for comparing a stable pixel layout.

Why is the downloaded PNG larger?

The tool keeps truecolor pixels and writes a lossless PNG so the 4×4 structure is not changed by palette quantization.

Does my image leave the browser?

No. Decoding, processing and PNG export run locally in your browser. Analytics never includes the image or file name.
